Joy

Finding the meaning of true joy during life’s trials, is truly a challenge that not many have the desire to dig into and feel! And Know! What true joy is.
Joy is often mistaken with happiness. We can feel joy in spite of our troubles. Happiness is temporary because it’s based on the external circumstances, but joy is lasting because is based on God’s presence within us.
Psalm 16:9-11
Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
my body also will rest secure,
10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
nor will you let your faithful[a] one see decay.
11 You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
If joy is the evidence of having God’s presence within us, what would be the opposite of not having joy? It could be Sorrow? Going through this factor, I got to the conclusion that perhaps is not it. Truth is that you could still be joyful in the mist of sorrow, having in mind that even if you’re going true a rough time you still hold on to the hope that God has control on your situation. Having the trust and the conviction that God has never left your side, is a reason to feel God’s presence at that moment. In other words having Joy! In James 1:2-4 says, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” Pure joy! If you’re holding on to God, sorrow will no longer mean that you’re unjoyful, it means that now more than ever, God is closer to you than ever.
The real opposite of joy is SIN!!
Sin is the factor that apart us from God’s presence. God is holy and He can’t be in the presence of sin. In Isaiah 59:2 says, “but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.” Reality is that truly if someone is unjoyful is not because they are sorrowful, but because they have been apart from God’s presence. One of the causes of this is because we have taken Jesus’ place in our hearts. Jesus should be the center of our life. When this happens we have left the communion and that eager to be closer with Him.
Look at our society today, a society that is based on the external feelings that this world can offer, but they have never truly felt real JOY! Our church today has falling little by little into this position in which they have traded the real joy into “happiness” when God what wants us to be is joyful; to delight ourselves in His presence that turns into JOY.
The directions on how to overcome this un-joyfulness (sin) is to take a step of faith and return ourselves from the direction that was taking us far from God’s presence. Talk with God! He is always able and ready to respond for your cry of help. He wants you to experience the delights of Joy. Jesus paid the highest price for our sins, so we could experience freedom in His presence and as a result of that, feel Joy.
I want to point out, that for this to happen; you should make a decision to do so; because it’s not easy, but not impossible.
For a joyful person, has it always being joy? Of course not! Just like I mention, it takes a decision to be joyful. Before that there was a state of feelings in which, the presence of God, wasn’t “available” for that person. It was a time in which everything was falling, but when you face God you become to know Him personally and His promises of always being there.
Today is your decision to choose Joy! Just like a Hummingbird, that in spite of the danger that life could bring; be eager to stay joyful drinking from the nectar of God’s Word and remain joyful day by day. Psalm 118:24 says, “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Be glad! Be…
JOYFULL!

Spiritual Anorexia

Anorexia is the lack or loss of appetite for food (as a medical condition).
In many of the occasions, it’s related with the depression someone might be going through. They are more worried about their external apparience and not their inner health. Sadly these people wont search for the needed help.

You might be asking yourself: what does anorexia has to do with my spirit? Is that possible?

Focusing on the spiritual life, sometimes we focus more into secular things, our problems, and on what people think or want from us; leading us to loose our focus and responsibility away from our spirit’s well being.

We were created in the form of flesh, spirit, and soul; and as time passes our focus is only to our flesh, which is good, but let us not forget that God created us perfect with a spirt and a soul as well.
The Word of God(Bible) is that spiritual food that our spirit needs!!!

How long have you been starving something you didn’t know you needed?
Yes!!! God’s word is that nourishing food that our spirit needs. Someone with spiritual anorexia, wont seek God, wont pray, and they got up to a point in which they feel disgusted when hearing God’s word speaking to their life!!!

One of the causes of the spiritual anorexia is that people think they are good and strong standing in God’s path getting to a point in which «they don’t need as much of God as they did before!»They wont read God’s word because they know enough, wont pray much because only a little is enough! But is here where the enemy gets a hold from them, tiding them up and slaving them.

I mention earlier that many of these people wont search for help, people suffering from this spiritual anorexia do the same. They know they are not spiritually healthy and they wont search for help. They like living with a nice appearance, but in the inside….

“…. “‘I know your works. You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead. (Revelation 3:1 ESV)»

In this verse God speaks about how people with spiritual anorexia, like i mention, focus more on the external reputation, but inside we are dead or extremely sick! How long are we going to wait!?

God’s word demands believers to eat His word.

“But you, son of man, hear what I say to you. Be not rebellious like that rebellious house; open your mouth and eat what I give you.” (Ezekiel 2:8 ESV)

He calls us to action! To do something! To eat His Word.

You might ask, why does God thinks that by «nourishing»my spirit with His word is good for me? God created the whole universe and all humanity, He knows what is best for all human kind. His word, nourishes our spirits, sets us free, gives us peace and love.

If you, like many are suffering of this spiritual anorexia, Christ is your medicine. He is the bread of Life, come to Him all those who are tired and wiry and He will give you rest!
It’s never too late to take action.

God bless You!
